Release certificate for deploying with an Android Provider

I have created a gear2 tizen wearable wgt, as a consumer, to be used with an Android app as the provider. This wgt will not be published to Samsung Apps, only distributed through the android app.

How do I sign the wgt so that it can be installed on any gear device by the Android provider?

I can only find instructions on how to create a certificate for a test device with a DUID. Even after creating this certificate, the Android provider cannot install the wgt, nless I copy the certifiate to the gear2 device manually, or install the wgt from the IDE.

Is there a way to create a 'release' certificate that allows the wgt to be installed  on any device?

Your question is not clear, probably you have misunderstanding

Your wgt is placed in assets folder inside your Android App. When the apk is installed, Gear Manager will push the wgt to the Gear

If you are testing using the emulator, then you need to push the wgt using IDE

Otherwise, just use the certificate you got by email from Samsung and build your wgt file and copy it to assets folder

The question is: How can I create wgt that is installabe on any Gear device (for APK upload to Play Store)? I only have a wgt with test certificate limited to know device UUID.

As for my understanding, device certificates needs to be pushed to the device after that permit to install certificates

But if I publish my APK over Play Store, I can't install cerificate to all users! :)

Hi,

As far as I know, this certificate file is for developer and there is another security system for public user to install your application in App Store.

So once your application is published in App Store, you don't need to do something about it.

Also, you can create cert for Tizen from existing Android cert.

Just to be clear. I have the certificates. I can create WGT which is installabe to devices. But this WGT is not installabe to unknown devices. It is generated from Android keystore, and the APK is signed with this certificate.

If I upload this APK to Google Play Store, users won't be able to install the WGT, because it is restricted to some device. The question is, is it possible to create WGT and APK which is installabe to any device, any smartwatch, so it is distributabe on Google Play Store.

Or this applications have to be uploaded to Samsung Apps, and Samsung will change the cerficate and allow to install on all device?

The WGT can only install on the Gear devices with Tizen

I know that. But the APK is installable on any Android device, and after the device will decide it will use the WGT to install it on Tizen Wearable or not. But this is still not the answer for my question.

Hi,

Your wearable application is available in Samsung AppStore only and they will allow all device to install it.

So public user can download it from Samsung Gear AppStore in Gear manager application of Samsung phone.

And it doesn't related to Google PlayStore.

It is an integrated application, so the Wearable application is distributed with the Android application. The wearable application is not available separately. BTW you say there is no way to distribute this integrated application over Google Play. Only Samsung App Store is the option.

Even though we do it, public user can see only provider side of your application(if your provider has UI, then user can see this one only).

And Samsung Gear Manager should be existed on phone if user want to install a wearable application from Samsung AppStore.
